A two vehicle collision involving a semi and passenger vehicle on State Route 26, east of Soap Lake at 6:20 a.m. Thursday resulted in one fatality.

According to Trooper John Bryant, the driver of the passenger vehicle was severely injured, but still alive and LifeFlight arrived to the scene. Attempts to revive the driver was unsuccessful and he died at the scene.

The cause is still under investigation. State Route 26 was closed for several hours, but reopened as of 9:55 a.m.
