Series of Collisions Cause SR 97 Blockages
Washington State Patrol responded to several collisions Monday morning on State Route 97. The first collision occurred at around 7 a.m. on SR 97 near milepost 247 which is just north of Wells Dam and about 7 miles south of Pateros.
"Initially it was a one car versus guardrail collision and then we had another one car collision in the same area," said Trooper John Bryant. It is unknown if the second car also hit a guardrail. "Both those vehicles ended up blocking the roadway fully."
According to Trooper Bryant, both drivers were transported to a hospital to check for injuries. At around the same time as the collisions near milepost 247, another collision occurred on 97A at milepost 219 and caused the road to be fully blocked as well. This incident involved a Chelan County deputy who was uninjured.
"We've got three possible injuries, we're checking on that," said Trooper Bryant.
Those folks will more than likely be transported to the hospital as well for a check up, according to Trooper Bryant. These accidents happened within 20 minutes of each other.
As of 8:30 a.m., alternate routes and traffic control were set up at both sites of the collisions.
