Back in 2017, Wenatchee city council authorized a lease agreement of a parcel of the Parkside, mental health residential treatment center, property to the Women's Resource Center (WRC) to expand housing. Recently, the WRC received grant funding for 20 more units and the city had to amend the original lease agreement in order for the grant money to apply to the construction.

"This grant money is only a portion of the property so we had to do a small boundary line adjustment to fit these new 20 units on there," said Mayor Frank Kuntz.

The city amended the lease agreement and adjusted the boundary line so that the parcel will fit the building footprint. The WRC is reviewing bids this Monday and plans to organize a ground breaking in October, according to city documents. The project's estimated cost is $3.4 million.

"We're excited for the 20 units, we obviously need housing of all kind, so we're excited for that," said Mayor Kuntz.
