The 12th annual Trout Fishing Derby is coming up on March 7 and registration is open. Quincy Valley Chamber of Commerce is coordinating the event that runs from sunrise until 1 p.m.

"People can weigh in throughout the day and top prizes go by length and cumulative weight," said Cari Matthews, executive director.

The top adult prize is a four person guided fishing trip and the remaining top four receives cash prizes. The top three kids receive trophies.

"It's a fun event for the kids," said Matthews.

For optimal fishing this year's derby will take place at Quincy Lake instead of Burke Lake.

For those 18 and over, registration is $30 and those 17 and younger can participate for free. Registration can be done at Hooked on Toys in Wenatchee, Sportsman's Warehouse in East Wenatchee, Quincy Hardware and Lumber and Quincy Valley Chamber of Commerce.
