From the Washington State DoT:

Heads up there is an EMERGENCY CLOSURE of US 2 from SR 172 (milepost 163, 13 miles east of Waterville) to SR 17 (milepost 187.5) due to the Cold Springs Canyon/Pearl Hill fire and low visibility. Travel conditions are extremely hazardous and there is no estimate for when it will reopen. SR 17 and SR 172 are also closed. Cross-state travelers should plan to use I-90 but know that heavy holiday-weekend travel will mean delays and likely very slow going so please be patient and cautious and be sure you and your vehicle are prepared with a full tank of gas, water, snacks and other supplies.

WSDOT is currently working on closing 1-90 between Ritzville and the Grant County line due to poor visibility.

Persons affected by the fire needing shelter can call the Red Cross Shelter line @509-670-5331.

The Cold Spring Canyon/Pearl Hill fire has prompted Level 3, or 'Get Out Now' evacuations for the entire town of Mansfield.

Due to poor visibility, there is no route out of town. Residences are asked to securely shelter in place if possible, or evacuate to the Mansfield School Gym.

Level 3 evacuations have also been issued to all residents east of Road K NE, up to Strahl Canyon/Barker Canyon Road, as well as between US 2 and Pearl Hill.

The fire originally started about before 9:30 on the Colville Indian Reservation and moved across the Columbia River, which started the fire in Douglas County. Due to extreme weather/wind conditions, the fire has progressed south.

A Type 2 Incident Management Team has been ordered and will be arriving sometime later this evening.
