Water Heater Results in Early Morning East Wenatchee Structure Fire

Douglas County Fire District 2, along with Chelan County Fire District 1, responded to a structure fire in the 1400 block 3rd Street NE in East Wenatchee around 4:30 a.m. Tuesday. The caller had reported the water heater was on fire with the fire spreading to the electrical box with all occupants out of the double wide mobile home.

"PUD responded and there was smoke showing upon arrival," said Kay McKellar, public information officer. "They also found fire had spread to a tree."

Fire crews knocked the fire down by 4:52 a.m. and turned the residence back over by 6:18 a.m.
