Wenatchee High School Offered Grant Opportunity for Projects
Community Foundation of North Central Washington has a grant opportunity specifically for the benefit of Wenatchee High School students and the application deadline for the Wenatchee High School Foundation Grant is nearing, October 31st. The grant money awarded can range from $250 to $1,000 for projects and equipment.
"We're looking for special projects that would benefit high school students in leadership or arts or expanding their academics," said Claire Oatey, director of community grants.
The award decisions are announced in December with the recipients required to use the funds within 12 months. According to Oatey, typically teachers, clubs or departments apply for the grant funding.
"Last year we awarded a grant to a teacher that does the fitness outdoor rec class," said Oatey. "They took students to Mission Ridge for ski lessons. So for students who haven't had an opportunity to learn how to ski and might not otherwise get that chance, they were able to go do six lessons up at Mission Ridge last year."
Grant funds are given to the Wenatchee School District with instructions on how to distribute the funds.
