Wenatchee School District Hoping to Use Summer School to Address Learning Loss

The Wenatchee School District is going to be more aggressive in helping kids learn through summer school this year.

In a meeting with the school board, Assistant Director of Special Programs Nadya Bush says they will bring in 450 students from K-5.

"That would be double the amount of kids that we normally invite to summer school because it's typically migrant only. The difference this year will be that it's open to anybody in K-5."

Middle School programs are currently being developed by the 21st Century grant program with all students invited.

Bush also told the school board that, for high school, they are targeting kids that have incompletes or need to make up credits.

"There will be options for those kids. Either take Canvas courses in different subject areas, which is one option. The other is for the kids who need the credits, who failed already, to work in Apex."

Registration will open during the spring.
