Wenatchee School District Passes 2020-21 Budget
On the eve of the start of the school year, the Wenatchee School Board adopted their budget unanimously.
Executive Director of Business and Finance Janette Bumgarner says the revenue and expenses jumped up about $5 million this year due more levy, state and federal funding, and increased pay.
"As well as COVID came this year, so there are COVID costs included in there. Technology, additional [money] for replacements, curriculum; those types of items."
As part of the presentation, Bumgarner says there is expected declines in enrollment in the future due to lower birth rates.
"How do we mitigate that decline in enrollment and the financial impact of that. So that will be something that we definitely dive into in the next several months."
The budget is set with expenses topping $117 million.
