The Wenatchee School District is skipping sending their Inside Wenatchee Schools mailer this month and is instead sending out information about the Wenatchee Valley Technical Skills Center.

Communications Director Diana Haglund says they want to make sure that students, parents and the valley know about what the school offers.

"That's a variety of programs from construction trades to cosmetology to computer game programming. We really wanted the community to have a good understanding of what those program offerings entail and then also the opportunity for students to earn college credit."

She called the Tech Center a hidden gem.

Haglund says enrollment at WV Tech is growing, and they've done a great job tapping into the community.

"We just wanted to strengthen and support the good work the Tech Center has done to promote their program because there is still a large population of people that don't have a really good understanding of what goes and how it can benefit young people as they're looking to develop skills."

Haglund also says the school also offers community services such as cosmetology, oil changes and body work amongst other programs that can be used by the public.

The information will be available both in a physical document that is coming in the mail and at the Wenatchee School District website.
