Wenatchee to Discuss Plans for CARES Act Funding
The City of Wenatchee is working on what to do with some money that was leftover from CARES Act funding they were given to help during the pandemic.
Mayor Frank Kuntz says they have roughly $230,000 though it could be more because the state is going to issue some assistance as well.
"We'll talk as a council, but my guess is we'll get it in the hands of business owners much like the Port has been doing. I think the County has given some of their CARES money to the Port. I know East Wenatchee and Douglas County have done the same thing."
Kuntz brought the issue up at the most recent city council meeting last week.
One industry he said he's worried about is restaurants.
"Outside dining seems to be going OK but it's going to be cold in a couple of months and there isn't going to be outside dining. I'm guessing a number of our restaurants might have to shut down if we can't get to Phase 2 or Phase 3."
Kuntz says they have until the end of November, or first part of December to determine how that money will be spent.
