FosteringWA and Fostering Solutions is hosting a free screening of an HBO documentary 'Foster' at Wenatchee High School on January 16. The documentary unpacks and debunks myths about foster care and the people involved in the system.

"We think it's important for people to come because the reality is there are children in our community who are in foster care and there is a need for more foster parents in Chelan and Douglas county," said Hayley Stoebner, recruitment coordinator.

The goal for the screening is to offer insight to the community on the foster care system and what being a foster parent entails.

"We hope that people walk away, perhaps, motivated to foster or maybe find other ways to support the fostering community," said Stoebner. "Also, we hope that people walk away feeling compassion for parents that have children in the child welfare system."

The screening is from 6 to 8 with snacks available for a donation along with information tables ran by child welfare agencies.
