The Wenatchee Valley Humane Society has shared tips on how to keep pets safe and tricks to mellow out firework anxieties for our furry companions. Independence Day firework celebrations causes Wenatchee Valley Animal Care and Control to see an annual surge in lost animals around this time of year due to panicking pets attempting to escape homes, yards or kennels.

"My best recommendation for fourth of July with pets is keep them home, keep them inside, keep them contained," said Dawn Davies, executive director. "I've seen a dog actually break through a window to get out of the house."

Other tips include playing soft music, secure doors and windows, ensure all tags or identification is up to date and place them in a secure place with something soft to curl up with.
