
Batterman Fire Grows To Over 1,600 Acres
The Batterman Fire is currently 1600+ acres and the Douglas County Sheriff's Office has issued a new Level 3 (LEAVE NOW) evacuation notice from Moses Stool, down Rock Island Grade Road to SR 28. Level 3 evacuations are still in place for residences on North Ward Avenue to Keane Grade Road. Level 2 (GET SET) to evacuate orders are posted for homes from Woodridge Avenue to Keane Grade. Level 1 alerts are added in the Palisades.
All of Rock Island Grade Road is now closed. The public is asked to avoid the area and do not drive around non-staffed road closures.
DCFD#2 Information Officer Kay McKellar provided an update around 7:45pm that homes on Keane Garde were threatened The fire was burning east toward Douglas Creek and had entered Rock Island Grade No homes or structures had been reported damaged or lost.
Local fire districts, DNR, and BLM crews will work the fire and structure protection overnight. State mobilization crews will be briefed in the morning and a Type 3 Incident Management Team will transition into supervision of the fire and relieve local firefighters on Monday
