Chelan Douglas Health District is reporting COVID hospitalizations are down from last week, but it continues to be overwhelming for local healthcare providers.

According to public information officer, Veronica Farias, on Tuesday, Confluence Health reported 38 hospitalizations with 29 of those patients unvaccinated and 13 of the 29 unvaccinated patients are in the ICU. Two of the 13 patients are on ventilators.

"Getting the COVID-19 vaccine truly is the most important thing we can do to move past these challenging time," said Farias. "Our local providers are working around the clock to offer all three booster vaccines to our residents."
