Douglas County deputies responded to a domestic dispute in the 10 Block of Garden Avenue in Rock Island early Sunday, September 29 morning at 12:15 a.m. There were threats with a handgun by sliding the handgun slide back and the victim fled the scene.

The suspect, Robert Mier, 42 years old, was still at the scene with a child inside.

"The female party, the victim, left the scene, not concerned that the child was in harm's way," said Sheriff Kevin Morris. "(The child) was no part of the domestic disturbance, per se. Immediately called it in and deputies arrived."

When deputies attempted to contact the residence, there were several failed attempts to get Mier to answer the door. A search warrant was obtained and the Douglas County Special Response Team entered.

"That's common for high risk situations like that and our SRT Team removed the child and made the arrest with the male subject," said Sheriff Kevin Morris.

Mier was arrested without incident and was booked into Chelan County Jail for assault second degree.
