Douglas County Solid Waste is hosting a 'Free Disposal Mattress Day' on October 5 at the Greater Wenatchee Regional Landfill for Douglas County residents only, not businesses - but spots must be reserved with a ticket by next Friday, September 27. Residents must present a ticket to receive entry into the landfill.

For interested residents to obtain a ticket, they must go to the Public Service Building in East Wenatchee with Douglas County ID and a utility bill.

Folks can bring debris such as tree limbs, concrete, asphalt, plastic, wood, construction material and rock. Douglas County Solid Waste will also be accepting furniture in the form of mattresses, couches and chair along with bbqs (without tanks) and tires that aren't on rims. Not allowed: liquids, grass clippings, appliances, electronics, televisions, asbestos, paint or dangerous and hazardous waste.

Loads also cannot exceed 10 cubic yards.
