The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says a suspect is in custody after a domestic violence assault early Tuesday morning.

Deputies responded around 2 a.m. to reports of a gunshot at a home in East Wenatchee. A caller reported a female family member had been shot in the neck and that her boyfriend fled in her vehicle.

A deputy attempted to locate the vehicle but lost sight of it near Badger Mountain Road and the Eastmont Extension. RiverCom Dispatch later received an automatic crash alert near Ski View Drive, along with a report of a burglary in progress involving a man trying to enter a home.

The victim was taken by ambulance to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries, later determined to be stab wounds rather than a gunshot wound.

A shelter-in-place order was issued after deputies were notified that a man matching the suspect’s description was seen entering a ravine north of 19th Street Northeast.

Deputies located the crashed vehicle and took the suspect into custody without incident.
The man, identified as 32-year-old Mitchell Figueroa-Ibarra of Wenatchee, was arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault, first-degree robbery and motor vehicle theft, all domestic violence-related. He was booked into the Chelan County Regional Justice Center after receiving medical clearance. Detectives say additional charges are possible.

The victim’s condition remains unknown.
