Eastmont Board Discusses Outline for Superintendent Search

Eastmont School Board and staff continued to discuss a schedule for hiring a new superintendent to replace current superintendent Garn Christensen Monday. Two years ago Christensen requested that the board not renew his contract.

Christensen said he provided an outline to the board that detailed some activities they will be obligated to work through in the selection process. The timetable gives the board the remainder of this school year and into the next to proceed through the 3 to 6 month process.

"We won't get really heavily into this until later this summer. Then this fall (the board) will be making sure they've got the right information they feel is important in their job posting and making a determination on if and who they want to use to assist in that process." Christensen explained, "They'll also think about the structure they want to use as they involve the community."

Ideally, the board will hire a new superintendent in February or March of 2022 with a start date in July. Christensen will retire in the summer of 2022 after 15 years with the district.
