An outside appliance is being blamed for a structure fire in Entiat Thursday morning that destroyed part of a porch.

Crews responded to a report of flames coming from the back of a house in the 2400 block of Entiat Way just after 7:00 am.

Chelan County Fire District #8 Spokesperson Kay McKellar said the cause is believed to be a heat lamp put on the porch for the resident's cats.

"They were able to put the fire out without any problem. The cats were nowhere to be found, so they apparently escaped the fire."

The home on Entiat Way did not suffer an damage to the inside of the house. It took firefighters about an hour and a half to put out the blaze and clear the scene.

There were no injuries.
