Four Republican members of the Washington State legislature are sponsoring House Bill 1239, a bill that looks to do nothing less than turn Eastern Washington into a new, 51st state.

The legislation, sponsored by 4th District Representatives Rob Chase and Bob McCaslin, 13th District Representative Tom Dent, and 39th District Representative Robert Sutherland, has been referred to the Committee on State Government & Tribal Relations.

'Liberty' would be established from the eastern portions of Washington State if House Bill 1239 were to be passed by the current state government. According to the legislation,

"The western boundary of Liberty follows the crest of the Cascade mountains and the western borders of Okanogan, Chelan, Kittitas, Yakima, and Klickitat counties. The eastern, northern, and southern borders of Liberty are the existing state borders."

A 'Liberty Law' would then still need approval from the U.S. Congress.

If House Bill 1239 ran the legislative gauntlet and the State of Liberty became of a reality, a transition committee would be created to develop and adopt a "master plan". This plan would establish Liberty's policy and government.
