Grant County Sheriff’s K9 Zedd Credited with First Catch

The Grant County Sheriff's Office announced Friday that K9 Zedd caught his first suspect November 12th. The incident occurred at East Fifth Street and South Fir Street in Warden.

PIO Kyle Foreman said the incident began when MACC dispatch received a call that 36-year-old Sergio Diaz Jr of Warden had come to the caller's home and punched the caller's daughter.

"Diaz then walked down the street and was carrying a pitchfork." explained Foreman, "When Warden Police arrived, he put down the pitch fork but did not comply with their orders to be taken into custody."

Zedd and his handler, Deputy Luis Jimenez, arrived to Diaz resisting arrest. Zedd then latched onto Diaz's thigh, causing Diaz to stop fighting with the officers.

Diaz was treated at Samaritan Healthcare in Moses Lake before being lodged in the Grant County Jail for investigation of fourth degree assault domestic violence, obstructing an officer, and third degree assault.
