Newhouse, DelBene Talk Bipartisanship at Cascadia College Forum

4th District Representative Dan Newhouse joined 1st District Rep Suzan DelBene recently in a virtual forum underscoring the need for more bipartisanship.

The virtual forum was hosted by Cascadia College and moderated by President Dr. Eric Murray.

Newhouse said that members of Congress can either be good examples or bad examples of cooperation.

"I hope that we can be more of a good example to Americans on how to be respectful to one another and be civil." stated Newhouse, "We can certainly have different opinions and disagree but we can do so in a way that's more constructive. As members of our American society, really work together to find common ground."

Newhouse added that one of the main needs that was talked about was how to foster a more constructive working environment.

Solutions brought up during the forum include helping to build personal relationships between members of Congress, and providing more opportunities for that to happen, especially through a more efficient work schedule.

Representatives Newhouse and DelBene both serve on the Select Committee on the Modernization of Congress, where they work on a bipartisan basis.
