A fire overtook a Rock Island home on Monday night and caused a family of seven to be displaced from their home.

"Units from Douglas County Fire District  2 and Chelan County Fire District 1 responded to a room and contents fire in a single story, single family residence wood framed structure," said Kurt Blanchard, Douglas County Fire Marshal.

The fire occurred last night at around 7:23 in the 20 block of Cambridge Avenue, according to Blanchard.

"Some of them (members of the family) were present at the time of the fire, all of them made it out," said Blanchard. "Although the fire originated in a back bedroom, there was extensive smoke and heat damage throughout the home."

No one was injured and all made it out of the home prior to the units' arrival. Blanchard stated it is believed the family is staying with friends in the meantime.

The cause of fire is still under investigation.
