The speed limit for a seven-mile stretch of US 2 over Stevens Pass will be reduced starting on Monday.

The State Department of Transportation says maintenance crews will be performing meet line work just west of the summit and continues to just east of the Lanham Lake trailhead and the Stevens Pass Nordic Center. One lane will also be closed through the work zone.

According to WSDOT, meet line work repairs the joint where two lanes of pavement meet and is often where the pavement will first begin to fail.

The reduced speed limit for this work zone will be 45 MPH.
