It’s Make a Difference Day across the country and here in the Wenatchee area.

More than 35 local events are officially listed to be involved in community service Friday or Saturday, along with other efforts being made independently.

Projects range from bike repair to cleanup of a hiking trail, to a shoe drive for kids in foster care. They're taking place across the area in cities like Orondo, Lake Wenatchee, Bridgeport, Entiat and Leavenworth as well as Wenatchee and East Wenatchee,

Make a Difference Day was started in 1992 by the now defunct USA Weekend Magazine, and Wenatchee has always been an active participant.

KPQ and the stations of Cherry Creek Media are once again taking part with our Coats for Kids drive to help students in the Eastmont and Wenatchee school districts. The drive takes place Saturday in the Wenatchee Albertson's parking lot from 10am-2pm.
