18-year-old Wenatchee Valley native Liam Kapeikis placed 7th at the 2022 Toyota U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Nashville Saturday.

Kapeikis performed a solid short and long program in front of a nationally televised audience in his first major competition in the overall Men's division. The U.S. Championships also double as the nation's Olympic Trials to select the Beijing team.

Kapeikis narrowly missed out on a trip to the Olympics with his 7th place result. Six-time national champion Nathan Chen won the men's competition.

Liam Kapeikis is the son of Wenatchee Figure Skating Club coaches Louise and Paul Kapeikis. Paul Kapeikis said in press release, "Going into the competition, a 10th place finish would be an amazing accomplishment."
